Throughout the United States and the world at large, the name of John Dewey has become synonymous with the Progressive education movement. Dewey has been generally recognized as the most renowned and influential American philosopher of education. During his lifetime the United States developed from a simple frontier-agricultural society to a complex urban-industrial nation, and Dewey developed his educational ideas largely in response to this rapid and wrenching period of cultural change.

Experience And Education

Experience and Education is a short book written in by John Dewey , a pre-eminent educational theorist of the 20th century. It provides a concise and powerful analysis of education. Dewey argues that the quality of an educational experience is critical and stresses the importance of the social and interactive processes of learning. Dewey was critical of both traditional and progressive education, that is he saw challenges within both educational approaches because they lacked a carefully developed philosophy of experience. Dewey's progressive learning theory is based on the idea that people, even young people, are not just blank slates waiting to be filled with knowledge from kinder through college. Instead, Dewey suggested that students organize fact-based comprehension through meta-cognition, or by building onto prior experiences, preconceptions, and knowledge, and therefore, the educator's role is in creating an educative experience.

Aedo Published The Value of Experience in Education: John Dewey Carlos Aedo, May Although Experience and Education is an analysis of "traditional" and "progressive" education, it is also a clear and concise statement of Dewey's basic criteria of experience. He uses continuity and interaction to describe the latitudinal and longitudinal aspects of experience EE, Continuity describes the aspects of experience as they relate to the individual.

In addition, Dewey developed extensive and often systematic views in ethics, epistemology, logic, metaphysics, aesthetics, and philosophy of religion. Because Dewey typically took a genealogical approach that couched his own view within the larger history of philosophy, one may also find a fully developed metaphilosophy in his work. Set within the larger picture of Darwinian evolutionary theory, philosophy should be seen as an activity undertaken by interdependent organisms-in-environments. This standpoint, of active adaptation, led Dewey to criticize the tendency of traditional philosophies to abstract and reify concepts derived from living contexts. As did other classical pragmatists, Dewey focused criticism upon traditional dualisms of metaphysics and epistemology e. Rather, human knowing is among the ways organisms with evolved capacities for thought and language cope with problems.

В этом освещении его лицо казалось мертвенно-бледным, безжизненным. - Сьюзан, - сказал.  - Дай мне двадцать минут, чтобы уничтожить файлы лаборатории систем безопасности.
