Interleukin-8 IL-8 is a major cytokine that could affect severity of lung diseases. Blood samples were collected before and after ELS treatment for 30 days. IgM level increased significantly 72 hours after the ELS therapy and returned to normal range at the end of study. Conclusion: Our findings suggest that ELS could down-regulate IL-8 expression in mononuclear cells while increasing leukocytes population and total immunoglobulins level, which can trigger immune responses without lung damage.

Beef fat was an extracted fat that a byproduct of beef processing industry. In this research, the objective was to study the effect of extraction methods on finger prints and fatty acid profiles of beef fat and to obtain the chosen extraction method. Polyunsaturated fatty acids such as linoleic and linolenic acids are present in all methods, where linoleic acid was the highest in Folch and linolenic acid was the lowest in Bligh and Dyer. The PCA analysis showed that only Folch that can be differentiated and has minimal residual error values. The results of the finger print analysis showed the extraction methods which were used are not different. These data showed that Folch was the chosen method for extracting beef fat. The analysis method of fatty acid composition by utilizing Gas Chromatography - Mass Spectometry or GC-MS is developed in the verification of the purity of food products containing animal fat [ 1 ].

Dissecting the interactions established between proteins and membranes in a given type of cells is not an easy task. Using a cell-free system of large unilamellar vesicles LUVs to analyze these interactions may help decipher these interactions and identify potential membrane deformations induced by the proteins incubated with these LUVs. This article describes the protocols for 1 extraction of total lipids from eukaryotic cells using the method developed by Bligh and Dyer , 2 the quantification of glycerophospholipids by gas chromatography after methanolysis, followed by 3 the formation of LUVs by extrusion, 4 protein-lipid binding assay, 5 analysis of the incubation product by transmission electron microscopy TEM and by flotation across a discontinuous sucrose gradient and finally, 6 analysis of the proteins by immunoblot and revelation of the glycerophospholipids by iodin fumigation. When a dried mix of lipids is dispersed in an aqueous solvent, large multilamellar vesicles LMVs form spontaneously. Figure 4.
