Is it usual or is it typical? Is that what you should expect? Are the climate and the weather the same? Although the weather and the climate are strongly correlated, they are not. What you anticipate is the climate.
Climate vs. Weather
Weather is the condition of the atmosphere at a particular place over a short period of time, whereas climate refers to the weather pattern, using statistical data, of a place over a long enough period to yield meaningful averages. Climate is an important element because it indicates the atmospheric condition of heat, moisture and circulation; it plays a dominant role in shaping vegetation and soil; and it ultimately affects all forms of life, as a result of the very definition of the word, which is a scientific prediction, based on evidentiary statistics, sustained over a long period. There are many elements that make up both the weather and the climate of a geographical location. The most significant of these elements are temperature , atmospheric pressure , wind , solar irradiance , humidity , precipitation , condensation and topography. The greatest influence of climatic change is associated with not only natural, but also artificial factors, which can be measured in terms of both short-term and long-term climate change. In simple language it is the long time condition of any large area. The most important factors affecting climate are latitude , altitude , distance from the ocean and sea, orientation of mountain ranges toward prevailing winds , and the ocean current.
Weather and climate
Both weather and climate refer to local conditions temperature, rainfall, wind strength, etc. In the United States, weather has been measured directly by people for over years , meaning that sufficiently long records exist to also track modern climate in detail over the same time period. To track both weather and modern climate, geoscientists measure temperature over land and in the ocean, air pressure, humidity, rainfall and snowfall, wind speed, sunshine, and many other factors. Geoscientists also estimate past climate during times before direct weather measurements by analyzing data from tree rings, coral reefs, ice cores, and many other parts of the geologic record. The reason that climate is usually measured by averaging weather conditions over 30 years or more is because many things can influence weather conditions on shorter timescales. In order to understand potential changes in climate, geoscientists need to measure and account for weather patterns like these over periods of several decades. Skip to main content.
Difference Between Weather and Climate
Weather is the day-to-day state of the atmosphere in a region and its short-term minutes to weeks variations, whereas climate is defined as statistical weather information that describes the variation of weather at a given place for a specified interval. They are both used interchangeably sometimes but differ in terms of the length of time they measure and what trends affect them. Weather is the combination of temperature, humidity, precipitation, cloudiness, visibility, and wind.
Weather can change from minute-to-minute, hour-to-hour, day-to-day, and season-to-season. Climate, is the average of weather over time and space. We hear about weather and climate all of the time. Most of us check the local weather forecast to plan our days.
Weather and climate are not independent. The confusion comes from weather and climate being intimately connected to each other, and this confusion is often highlighted in discussions about our changing climate. The averages of daily weather are used to monitor climate.
Climate in a wider sense is the state, including a statistical description, of the climate system.
- Dov'ela plata.
